The David Nelson Band has been recording and performing around the country since 1994. Their broad musical palette spans the Almost Acoustic style that Nelson played with Jerry Garcia, through roots rock n' roll, and psychedelic country-rock.

The doors open at 5pm. Opening musician Tony Nester will kick off the night!

KMUD and the Mateel Will Host the 2012 Holloween Boogie, Saturday, October 27 at the Mateel Community Center

   On Saturday, October 27th the Mateel Community Center and KMUD Radio will host the 2012 Halloween Boogie at the Mateel in Redway. One of the most rockin’ parties of the year, the Halloween Boogie always attracts a crazy cast of characters in costume and therefore a costume contest is a must! Winners are chosen from several categories among those decked out in their Halloween best. This year’s Boogie, will feature Diego’s Umbrella, Monkey and Candelaria, three very talented favorites of the Mateel’s 2012 Summer Arts & Music Festival.

            There are two kinds of music fans in this world: those who love Diego’s Umbrella and those who soon will. Celebrated as San Francisco's Ambassadors of Gypsy Rock, they effortlessly blend harmonized shredding, marching drums, and gang choruses with an energy, fire and a refinement that reflects their years of experience on the road in the U.S. and Europe. The group's uncanny gift for pleasing crowds, from standard clubs to huge festivals such as High Sierra and Outside Lands, has earned them a breathless and ever-expanding following across the United States and Europe. It’s that connection with other cultures, they say, that continually informs their aesthetic, a mix of klezmer, flamenco and punk rock all blended to pop perfection.

            Monkey, is a 6 piece high-energy organ driven, Ska/Reggae group, whose intense live shows and rock-steady rhythms never fail to get the crowd dancing wherever they go. The group has won several awards, including the prestigious California Music Award. Monkey has toured the U.S., Great Britain, Canada, Mexico and Japan. While constantly recording and touring, performing over 200 shows per year, Monkey has produced 3 full-length albums, and has also been featured on over 25 compilations, video games and film soundtracks, including the new independent horror-comedy Russ Meyer tribute “Pervert the Movie” on Stag Films. They are currently working on their Japanese release, “Monkeyska” (Disc Union Ltd). 

            Candelaria, with their unique blend of dub studio techniques and reggae style bass lines applied to traditional cumbia and other Colombian rhythms, has created dance music with electronic sensibilities and a live feel that keeps the dance floor hot and the party moving. Independent and cutting edge, Candelaria resists the trend of computer driven programmed beats and effects and has actually gone the opposite direction. All of their music, as well as recordings, are performed live and all effects are done in real time. Candelaria is at the forefront of the global cumbia movement with present and past members from Colombia, Puerto Rico, Mexico, El Salvador, Canada, Malaysia, and Peru, Candelaria reflects many cultures and the diversity of the San Francisco Bay Area.

            Start planning your costume now! But with or without a costume, don’t miss this year’s Halloween Boogie at the Mateel Community Center with three of the hottest dance bands around, Diego’s Umbrella, Monkey and Candelaria! 2.4 BOARD COMMITTEES
2.4.1 Standing Committees
The Board presently has four five standing committees: Development, Finance, Policy, and Mediation and Pledge Drive. Standing committees include at least one Board member who is the Board-appointed chair. The chairperson of each committee will submit a list of committee members to the Board for approval. Members may be added as recommended by the committee chairperson and are subject to Board approval. Membership of the Board committees will be reviewed annually in the month following the seating of new Board members.
 
Committees draw up their own goals, rules, and definitions to implement the Board's broad plan. Committees report to the Board, which accepts, rejects or modifies their recommendations.  Standing committees can have subcommittees at their discretion. Special committees have a limited project or timeframe. Committee expenditures shall be budgeted and approved ahead of time by the Board. Management's committees, such as the Program Selection and Review Council, are advisory to and defined by management.
 
2.4.2 Pledge Drive Coordinating Committee
The spring and fall on-air pledge drives shall be organized by a coordinating committee of paid and unpaid staff and volunteers. This committee will be a subcommittee of work closely with the Development Committee.
 
The committee will be empowered to provide direction as to themes; create the Silent Drive letter, and organize the many volunteers it takes to staff the pledge drive for the agreed-upon length of the campaign. The committee will determine the length of the drive and when to end the drive.
 
The committee will conduct trainings for volunteers and staff in the skills needed to pitch, produce and coordinate the daily work of the drive.

2.4.3 Development Committee  
 
The Development Committee shall consist of five or more people: one Board-appointed chairperson, at least one other Board member, the Station Manager, the Development Coordinator and at least one other person.
 
Responsibilities of this committee are to develop fundraising activities for RCR. This includes events, tabling campaigns, marketing strategies, merchandising and inventory, promotions, advertising campaigns, and all fundraising in general. This committee will follow the general guidelines for events as outlined in the Fundraising Manual. The committee will draw up proposals to be submitted to and approved by the Board of Directors. Progress on all projects will be reported monthly to the Board, including a final report once the project is completed. At the beginning of the year this committee will draw up a calendar to follow for the year.
 
The Development Committee shall work within the annual budget guidelines approved by the Board of Directors. The Development Committee needs to work in parallel with the Finance Committee to increase consistent cash flow while also working within the current financial restrictions dictated by the Finance Committee.
 
Open time shall be available to all guests. Guests can be part of brainstorming process if the Committee members request it. Proposals may be submitted to the Committee in writing or by email for consideration. Recommendations will be clearly outlined and proposed to the Board if deemed relevant by the Committee.
 
If a vote is taken at a meeting, only the members of the Committee will be counted to make final decisions. Guests may be included in a straw poll, and this count will be included in the report to the Board, but not part of a decision making vote.
 
On the occasion that timely decisions need to be made, only the Committee members will participate in a vote to decide how to proceed. This will be clearly reported to the Board with explanation regarding the need for the quick decision.
 
This Committee will take a large role in recruiting, organizing and training volunteers. Volunteer networks shall be created and documented for future reference. Key volunteers will be delegated to and entrusted with coordinating and recruiting other volunteers for particular events or task management. Dependable volunteers will be trusted to work drives, booths, events, tables, etc. Developing solid relationships with dedicated volunteers will be a goal of this committee.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Vehicle Donation Program

Does my car have to be running?
Not always. It does have to have an engine and be towable. It varies from state to state and depends upon the year, make, and model of the vehicle. Sometimes if the cost to transport a vehicle will cost more than what it will bring at auction, it may be declined. Call our toll free line to find out if your vehicle qualifies.

Does my car have to be registered?
No, but you must be the legal titleholder.

What if I lost the title?
You must obtain the title prior to donating it. Contact your local DMV to obtain a duplicate title.

Where do I sign my title?
Our driver will instruct you of the proper place to sign your title. You may have to sign a power of attorney authorizing us to transfer it. Our driver will let you know what is required or call our toll free number, 877-411-DONATE (3662)  to speak our representative.

What kind of paperwork will I receive?
You will receive a tow receipt when the vehicle is picked up. Thirty days after the vehicle is sold, you will receive an acknowledgement. If your vehicle sells for OVER $500 you will receive IRS Form 1098 B & C.

How much can I take for my donation?
Effective 2005, if the value of the vehicle is over $500, the taxpayer is limited to deduct the amount for which the vehicle sold. In such a case you will receive a Form 1098 B & C within 30 days of sale. If the vehicle sells for under $500 you will not receive IRS forms as you are not required to file them for vehicle donations up to $500. Please consult your tax advisor to determine your benefit or for additional information, visit the IRS website at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/n-05-44.pdf .

What will happen to my vehicle?
Your vehicle will be picked up by one of our courteous drivers and sold at auction.  Cars are usually sold within 30 days of pick up. Some vehicles may take longer.

Is there a tow fee?
No. If you are out of our towing range, we can offer you the option to drop the vehicle off at our auction house at your convenience.

Are all cars sold at auction?
No. Occasionally, cars that are donated do not sell at auction. In those cases, the vehicles are sold for scrap metal.

Will I be notified when it sells?
Yes.  If the vehicle sells for over $500 you will receive IRS Form 1098 B & C. If not, you will simply receive an acknowledgement as required by the IRS.

How soon can my vehicle be picked up?
Vehicles are picked up at a time that is convenient for you.  Our representative will take all pertinent information regarding your donation, and forward it to our tow company. They will call you within 24 hours to set up an appointment.  If you have not been called within 24 hours, please call 877-411-3662.

What vehicles do you accept?
We take cars, boats (if they are on a trailer), motor homes, trucks, motorcycles (if they are operational), farm equipment, and recreational vehicles such as snowmobiles, jet ski, etc.) Call our representative to find out if your vehicle qualifies.

Why Donate?
There are several great reasons, like:
1. You don't want to worry about selling your vehicle.
2. It is too expensive to repair your vehicle.
3. You don't trust your car to be safe on the road.
4. You need a tax write-off.

But the most important reason is that your donation will help us continue to bring you the radio programs you love and depend on!

The KMUD Audio Archive exists so you can listen when it's convenient for you.
KMUD is able to bring you the new and improved Audio Archive as part of our affiliation with Pacifica Radio.

If you missed a show on the radio, now you have another opportunity to listen.
There are three "actions" you can take to listen to the programs archived here: You can play all programs, and you can download news and talkshows to your computer's hard drive. You can also subscribe to some of them as "podcast."
  • Play
    Click on the "Play" link to listen to the show you want to hear.
    For copyright reasons music programs are not available for download.
  • Download
    Downloading lets you save a copy of the chosen program to your computer hard drive. Only public affairs, news, and talk shows are available for downloading.
    By simply clicking on the "Download" link your browser will start downloading the file and after a moment will start playing it. You could listen to the whole show in this manner if you like. Once the show is all downloaded you could go to your browser's File menu, and choose Save As, enter a name and a location, and save the file to your computer's hard drive.
    However, you might prefer to do the following to download quickly: Mac users can hold down the CTRL key while clicking the mouse on the "Download" link then choose the "Saved Linked File" (it might also be called "Save Link") option from the pop-up menu. Windows users should right-click and choose "Save Target As..." to save the file.
  • Podcast
    Podcasting lets you automatically receive the latest episode of your chosen program as soon as it's available. You need to "subscribe" to receive a podcast, rather like you might subscribe to a magazine and get it delivered each week. In order to sign up for a podcast you need a piece of podcast software usually available free of charge (iTunes, Juice, and Doppler are popular examples. Click here for a list of podcast software). This software will check for new episodes and automatically download them for you. Instructions for subscribing to Podcasts will vary with the software but in general the steps you follow will involve copying the podcast's link (PC users: right click the Podcast Button Podcast button and select "Copy Link Address," Mac users: hold down the control key, click and select "Copy"). Then paste the link into the subscription field of your podcasting software ("Add Podcast" or "Subscribe to Podcast" in most software).

HD Radio™ Technology upgrades broadcast radio from analog to digital. Broadcasters that upgrade to HD Radio Technology can provide consumers listening with HD Radio enabled receivers many benefits that improve their listening experience: CD-like digital audio quality and useful data services such as real-time traffic, iTunes Tagging and Artist Experience are just a few examples. Today, there are more than 2,100 stations serving local markets across the country with HD Radio Broadcast Technology. In addition to the upgrades to the original primary channel – the HD1 – HD Radio Technology enables broadcasters to create extra FM channels on the radio dial. We call these HD2/HD3 channels and today more than 1,400 HD2/HD3 channels are available in radio markets across the country, thereby providing consumers more diverse listening options than ever.

HD2/HD3 channels are found adjacent to a radio station’s traditional location on the dial. These channels provide a wide range of new, diverse content and often provide expanded coverage of the content played on the primary HD1 channel. For example, if a consumer traditionally enjoys listening to classic rock on 101.1 FM (the HD1), with HD Radio Technology there can be a second rock channel – perhaps deep cuts from a great album – on the HD2 channel and additional creative programming on the HD3.

With HD Radio Technology, stations have many ways to reach listeners with exciting new services and additional useful content via HD2/HD3 channels. Whether that is by broadcasting three related music genre on each HD Radio channel, by mixing talk radio with music, placing sports on the FM dial, by providing in-language channels, or numerous other possibilities, HD Radio Technology is a major upgrade to the traditional analog radio listening experience.

Approved by the Federal Communications Commission as the only system for digital AM and FM broadcasting in the United States; HD Radio Technology is developed and licensed by iBiquity Digital Corporation and supported by the leaders of the broadcasting, consumer electronics and automotive industries.

HD Radio broadcasts are available subscription free. Only an HD Radio enabled receiver is required and there are many choices. A couple of models will be available from KMUD in the very near future.
