Update- Wed. Jan. 23, 2013: High Risk missing person, Myra Sheek found safe and uninjured.
According to an update from the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, dated Wed. Jan. 23, 2013:
On 01-23-2013, approximately 9:00 a.m., five Humboldt County Sheriff Search and Rescue volunteers and two trained Search and Rescue Deputies met at Eggert Road, Eureka and expanded the search area for missing person Myra Sheek. At approximately 9:40 a.m. a search and rescue volunteer found Sheek hidden in thick brush. She was located approximately 150 feet on the northside of the roadway near the intersection of Ridgewood Drive and Eggert Road, Eureka. She indicated to the Sheriff's personnel that she did not want to be found. Medical Personnel were immediately summoned to the scene and Sheek was transported to a local hospital for treatment. She did not appear to be injured, only dehydrated and cold. Sheek is expected to make a full recovery.

According to a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, dated Jan 22, 2013:
On 01-18-2013, approximately 11:30 a.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the owner of Aguilar Manor Assisted Living Facility located at 6433 Eggert Road, Eureka, that a resident, Myra Sheek, was missing. The resident went for a walk at 11:00 a.m. that day and did not return. Normally Sheek never walks more than a block away from the home and returns within a short period of time. The owner told the investigating deputy that the missing female has some medical issues which raised the concern for her welfare. Deputies and Sheriff’s Citizens on Patrol (S.C.O.P.) searched the area for Sheek, but could not find her. Several neighbors were contacted but had not seen her.
The Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public's help in locating her.

Myra Sheek is described as follows: 61 years old, White Female, 5' 6", 200 lbs, brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a denim jacket, yellow sweat pants. She wears glasses.
On August 11, 2003 Chris Giauque was reported missing and may be a victim of a robbery-homicide. In 2012 it was announced that a $200,000 reward is being offered in the case. Click here to see information about the case and the reward being offered.

Update Dec. 12, 2012:
KMUD News was notified that a family member, the missing man's daughter, reported that her father, Tim Cox, had called in to tell her that he was not really missing and was fine.
Information given to KMUD by the family of Tim Cox, indicates that he is missing, and the family asks for help in locating him. Update, audio added
Tim Cox is 50 yrs old, 6 ft. tall, with sandy blonde curly hair and blue eyes. He was last last heard from 6 weeks ago and his last known whereabouts was in the Harris area.

According to a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, dated Dec. 4, 2012:
On 11-28-2012, approximately 5:00 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a missing person identified as Bryan Balcom. Deputies responded to the Balcom’s home in the 6800 block of Rohnerville Road, Hydesville and met with a female relative. The relative told the deputies she left town on 11-20-2012, and when she returned on 11-28-2012 Balcom was gone. She had no idea where he went. Deputies interviewed neighbors who told them they had not seen Balcom since 11-20-2012. Deputies located Balcom’s car keys and driver’s license in his residence. His vehicles were also at his residence. Balcom has medical issues.
Balcom is described as: 51 years old, 5’8” tall, 180 lbs, green eyes, brown long hair. Last seen wearing tan shorts and a pink shirt.

According to a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, dated Dec., 3, 2012:
On 12-3-2012, approximately 7:00 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an armed robbery which just occurred at the 76 Gas Station, 1980 Central Avenue, McKinleyville. When deputies arrived they met with the male employee. The victim told deputies he was alone in the gas station when two males entered via an unlocked rear door. The males were wearing black masks and gloves. One of the males had a dark colored handgun which he pointed at the victim and immediately ordered him to give them all the money from the safe. After the victim gave the suspects the money, he was ordered to lie on the floor. The employee was not injured during the robbery.
The suspects are described as follows:
- Suspect #1 – White male adult, 6’1 to 6’2”tall, thin build, black hoodie sweatshirt, black mask, black gloves, armed with dark colored handgun
- Suspect#2- male, thin build, 5’ 8” to 5’ 10” tall wearing a grey or white hoodie, dark mask.
