Summer season means an increase in tourist and transient populations in the Garberville/Redway areas and with it a corresponding increase in trash left behind. In an effort to help foster clean communities, Humboldt County resident Mike Miller has organized a Community Clean-up Day. Miller spearheaded a successful clean-up event last year in mid-June. This year's event is scheduled for this Saturday, July 21, beginning at 10 am. Anyone wishing to help is encouraged to meet at the first turnout on the left, as you are going north from Garberville on Redwood Drive. The spot will be marked by a 20-yard dumpster donated by Recology Humboldt County.
Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves but trash bags will be provided. If you can bring a pick-up truck to help haul bagged trash that would also be welcomed but is in no way required.
The clean-up event is sponsored by Humboldt County Public Works, the Garberville/Redway Public Restroom Working Group (GRPRWG) and Clean Community Crew.
