A seven-hour standoff between an armed man and police ended without any injuries this Thursday (Nov. 1, 2012) morning in Eureka. The incident reportedly started after Jeffery Morgan Wood called the Eureka Police Department saying he had heard people in his basement and had armed himself. When police arrived to respond, they reportedly asked Wood to come outside without a firearm. Police say Wood responded by firing several shots from inside the home on Cooper Lane.
