This Tuesday, November 6, 2012, KMUD once again teams up with Access Humboldt to bring you election results and discussion. From 8 to 11 pm KMUD will be sending a video stream from studio B the will show on Channel 11 on the Suddenlink cable system. Unfortunately Access Humboldt is not able to make a video stream available on the internet.

The information below is based on the Garberville/Redway Sample Ballot (all candidates listed in order as they appear on the Ballot).

Notice: To ensure all voters can get to the polls on November 6, California law provides employees up to two hours off to vote if they do not have enough time to do so during non-work hours.  Polling places will be open between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. In the three seat race for Humboldt County Board of Supervisors the final results of total vote in the June 5, 2012 election were as follows:

District #1:Rex Bohn won easily with 67%, while Cheryl Seidner trailed with 29 percent, and Annette De Modenafinished with 7%.
District #2:Estelle Fennel won with 53% of the vote to incumbant Clif Clendenen's 47%
District #3:Incumbant Mark Lovelace claimed victory with 67% of the final vote to Karen Brooks' 32%.
The three victorious candidates in the Supervisor's election all won outright, avoiding runoff elections in November. Rex Bohn was seated prematurally when Jimmy Smith resigned early because of illness (click here to see that story). Estelle Fennel will be seated in January and Mark Lovelace will be re-seated to serve another 4-year term.

When you look at your November California ballot this year you will see 11 propositions for your consideration, including two (prop. 30 and 38) to fund shortfalls in education, a repeal of the death penalty (prop. 34), a reform of the Three-strikes law (prop. 36), and a measure that would require labeling of genetically engineered foods (prop. 37). On Monday, September 24 at 7 p.m., the League of Women Voters of Humboldt County (LWVHC) has scheduled a live presentation, "The Pros and Cons of the Ballot Propositions," to be held at the Fortuna City Council Chambers, located at 621 - 11th Street in Fortuna.
